Part of the pleasure of Strictly is seeing apparently hopeless hoofers transform into modern-day versions of Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers and while we’ve not had the eye-watering entertainment of an Ed Balls or the infectious joy of a Susan Calman, we’ve certainly gone on some wonderful journeys-of-improvement this series.
There have been surprises along the way too. The introduction of a Couples’ Choice category added a bit of spice and Dr Ranj Singh turned out to have more rhythm than anyone could have guessed, while Charles Venn survived three dance-offs to shoot up the leaderboard in week nine for a near-perfect samba.
Tonight, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host the final of the pro-celebrity dance contest while Michael Buble provides the music.
Ashley and Pasha, Faye and Giovanni, Joe and Dianne, and Stacey and Kevin are the remaining couples and they must all rise to three challenges - a routine of their own choosing, one set by the judges and finally a show dance.
However, while Shirley Ballas, Dame Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood will be reviewing their efforts, only viewers' votes will count to determine the winner.
